EFTH wins another national award

Trainee Daniela Aguiar, 3rd year of Technician Restaurant / Bar Course (Level IV), won first place in the Schweppes Barman Proof in the Constest Gastronomy Young Talent, held in Lisbon on November 5th.
3 of the 8 finalists of the Schweppes Barman Proof were EFTH´s trainees. Besides Daniela Aguiar, Délcio Junco e Luís Pereira also participated.
In the Pairings with Super Bock beer Proof, EFTH ´s trainee Rafael Melo, 2nd year Kitchen/Pastry Course (level IV) was one of the 6 finalists.
The 3rd edition of the Constest Gastronomy Young Talent had proofs in the following categories:
- Água das Pedras Table Arts
- Barmen Schweppes
- Makro Kitchen
- Pairings with Super Bock beer
- Pastry
This contest is an annual initiative of Edições do Gosto/ Inter, which seeks to find and promote the professionals of the future, new chefs, sommeliers, pastry chefs and waiters, key professions in tourism development, one of the most important sectors of national activity .
After a day of tests and based on the knowledge, skills and creativity as evaluation criteria, the jury, composed of prominent national references of the various categories of the competition, consecrated as winners, in this 3rd edition:
- Água das Pedras Table Arts: Susana Santos – Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Portalegre
- Makro Kitchen: Fábio Santos – Associação de Cozinheiros Profissionais de Portugal
- Pairings with Super Bock beer: Nichita Zelenscicov – Grémio Literário de Lisboa
- Inter Pastry: João Guerreiro – Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Lisboa
Besides the title, the winners will receive, respectively according to the contest category:
- € 500 prize money Água das Pedras
- 'Balance Course "in Black Pepper & Basil by Schweppes
- € 1,000 in purchases at Makro
- a Super-Bock professional course in the prestigious ALMA Experience school in Parma, Italy, with travel and accommodation included, plus a one week internship with confectioner Joaquim Sousa.
Chef Sandro Meireles invited to "The Stars Route - Gourmet Festival. Michelin Stars"

To the Anfiteatro Restaurant /EFTH is an honor to be the first of the Azores to be invited to be part of a group of stars, in one of the best culinary events in Portugal, and is surely an acknowledgment of the good work undertaken by the School that continues to positioned itself in one of the highest levels of cuisine in Portugal.
This event will also be another opportunity to promote the Azores and the excellence of its products, a further contribution of school based on media coverage of the chefs and gastronomy.
Presentation of Azores Gastronomy 2014

On 7th and 8th November, Chefs EFTH & Friends will prepare two unique menus to give our guests a very special taste of the Azores.
The press conference was attended by the Regional Secretary of Tourism and Transport and Regional Director of Public Works and Communications.
Merit Awards Ceremony sponsored by GRUPO BENSAUDE

Presentation of International Internships
Published in News of 2014 Written byEFTH held today, Tuesday, September 2 at Restaurant / Lounge Anfiteatro, the presentation of graduates who will make the international internships in the area of Culinary Arts.
Students who will be part of the training project are:
Angelina Pedra, Professional Kitchen / Pastry Class (after qualifying 12th year) ,which will make a 3 month internship at the College of Culinary Arts, the prestigious Johnson & Wales University, USA;
Rodrigo Teves, Professional Kitchen / Pastry Class (after qualifying 12th year) ,which will make a 6 month internship at the Langham Hotel (5*), USA;
Rui Batista Pereira and Rúben Pereira, both from the Technical Course of Kitchen/ Pastry (Level IV), which will make a 6-month internship in Denmark, at Hos Fischer restaurant, owned by Chef David Fischer, who favored us with their presence in 10 Fest Azores in 2014.

Adeliaçor organized the 2nd edition of Taste in Adegas between 4 and 6 July.
A Route of Wine and Delicacies on the island of Pico with, once again, the support of EFTH.
Great wines and fantastic moments of conviviality in an event in which 7 certified wine producers opened the doors of their Adegas (cellars).
